“This issue looks at the fringes of Indian cinema- at the ‘shadow cinema’ of Nags and Nagins, and the habitat of horror cultivated by the Ramsay family. While tracing the transition from celluloid to digital through these cinematic ecologies, we have looked at the pressing need for and ongoing work in the area of film preservation and restoration, which Shivendra Singh Dungarpur (Director of Film Heritage Foundation) talks about at length. Shai Heredia (Curator and Founder of Experimenta India) delves into her relationship and journey with experimental films while writer Amrita Chakravarty looks at stardom in the era of Netflix and other streaming platforms. The Film Edition of the art dose zine looks at the filmic medium through its shared histories of visibility as they manifest across changing bodies of production and reception. It is, by no means, a comprehensive history, but hopefully, an exciting peek at changing definitions of the marginal. ” Najrin Islam
